Meet Lori Matthews
With a Master’s degree in Business Management and over 35 years of hands-on experience in the financial industry, I bring proven fiscal expertise and a results-driven approach to the Flagstaff City Council. My background equips me to navigate complex municipal budgets, analyze economic trends, and ask the tough questions needed to keep Flagstaff thriving.
Since moving to Flagstaff in 2011, I’ve focused on serving our community. I served on the Flagstaff Shelter Services board and as interim Executive Director, where I helped expand services and secure vital grant funding for vulnerable populations. I also founded ANEW Living, a nonprofit that has achieved an 85% success rate in ending homelessness through innovative life skills and financial literacy programs that promote economic independence.
I’ve taught microeconomics and accounting at Coconino Community College and was selected for the 2024 Flinn-Brown Fellowship cohort through the nonpartisan Arizona Center for Civic Leadership. These experiences have strengthened my ability to develop sensible, budget-conscious solutions.
I’m action-oriented and committed to affordability, long-term stability, and effective public service. With a proven record of delivering results, I’m ready to fight for a thriving, affordable, and resilient Flagstaff.
